Xtream Codes player for Mac
Xtream Codes is the login style many IPTV providers use: a server address, a username and a password, instead of a single long M3U link. On Mac, Zapline is a bring-your-own-playlist player — it connects only to the panel you enter and includes no channels of its own.
Step by step
- Collect your details. You need three things from your provider: the server host (often with a port, like example.com:8080), your username, and your password. Keep the http/https choice matching what they issued.
- Add an Xtream playlist. In Zapline on Mac, create a profile if you need one, choose Add a Playlist, then switch the source to Xtream Login.
- Enter the server and credentials. Paste the server host exactly as given, type the username and password, and use the HTTPS toggle when your panel requires it. Credentials are stored in the Mac Keychain and are only sent to your provider's server.
- Let it import. Zapline loads live channels, movies and series from the panel, and derives the account's XMLTV guide address automatically so the EPG can fill in without a separate paste.
What Xtream gives you on Mac
- The guide comes from the panel. Zapline builds the XMLTV URL from your login (
xmltv.php), so you do not have to hunt for a separate EPG link. - Movies and series are separated. On-demand titles sit apart from live TV, with seasons and episodes grouped when the panel provides them.
- Catch-up is detected when the panel offers it. For Xtream logins, Zapline can ask the player API which live streams keep an archive, then offer past programmes from the guide when they are still inside the archive window.
Mac-specific notes
- Keyboard-friendly live TV. Once a live channel is playing, you can move to the next or previous channel with the arrow keys without leaving the player.
- M3U files are also an option. If you have a local
.m3u/.m3u8file instead of Xtream credentials, use M3U URL or Import File on Mac. Xtream Login is for server + username + password only. - Same library model as other Apple screens. Profiles, favourites and history stay on this Mac; the app does not sync them to your other devices.
Common sign-in problems
- Wrong port. The port is part of the server address and is easy to drop.
example.com:8080is not the same asexample.com. - http versus https. Many panels only answer on one of the two. Flip the HTTPS toggle and try again.
- Extra spaces. Pasted credentials often carry a trailing space, which the server rejects.
- Account expired or maxed out. If everything looks right and the server still refuses, check the subscription status and how many devices are connected.
Zapline supplies no accounts, no channels and no content. It is an Xtream Codes player for credentials you already have. Nothing about your account or viewing is sent to Zapline — there is no Zapline backend for that.
